An experimental investigation of the stochastic nature of slug flow

Slug flow is widely encountered in oil and gas systems. It has an unsteady hydrodynamic behavior that motivated the development of mechanistic models to better understand quantify parameters flow. The present work investigated several slug conditions through experimental campaign was performed a 2-in ID horizontal pipe facility. data were statistically analyzed they indicated suitability lognormal distribution model characteristics, such as length, film frequency. Based on mean results, lengths tend increase more frequency higher frequencies are obtained with lower fractions. All slugs from each test individually studied using different approaches analyze data. results suggest existence relationship between when unit identified starting region followed by region. values coefficient determination for relation length indicate possible influence other stochastic nature, liquid holdup, could affect slugs.
